I've always been fascinated with the origins of writing based on Bronze Age archeology and pre-historic cave art. Influenced by the connection between the shapes that early humans used to visually and symbolically communicate and their echo in analog technology, I started to create assemblages I call Cyphers. They can stand alone as a single piece or be arranged into tableaus of any number that read like hieroglyphics. The predominant materials are mined from old typewriters, adding machines, instruments, and watches, accented with costume gems, tiny reclaimed objects , bones and woven together with copper wire.
