I've always been fascinated with the origins of writing based on Bronze Age archeology and pre-historic cave art. Influenced by the connection between the shapes that early humans used to visually communicate and their echo in analog technology, I started to create panel displays that read like hieroglyphics using found objects mined from old machines.
These works were equally informed by Arte Povera, Fluxus and Concrete Poetry.
The Cypher Wall has been an ongoing installation since 2004 comprised of individual assemblages that can stand alone or be composed into groupings.
In this way the Cypher Wall is an open ended installation rather than a fixed form.

The predominant materials for these pieces are old typewriter, adding machine and watch parts, costume gems, tiny reclaimed objects , bones and copper wire.
